Our compassionate staff genuinely understands the life-altering effects a cancer diagnosis has on an individual, and how chemotherapy, specifically, can cause an increased level of fear, along with physical ailments.  In line with our core model of patient-specific treatment, chemotherapy regimens are individually tailored by our oncologists according to each unique patient’s type of cancer, stage, and other factors.

There are over 50 different chemotherapy drugs that can be given in hundreds of combinations. Most chemotherapy drugs are given intravenously, while some are administered orally. Chemotherapy works to destroy cancer cells or stop them from spreading. Over the last decade, newer targeted chemotherapy drugs have been developed which are more effective and cause fewer side effects to enable patients to achieve a higher quality of life while undergoing cancer treatment.

As one of the region's leaders in cancer treatment, GPCHS sets the standard for excellence in chemotherapy nursing. Our oncology-certified nurses work closely with the medical team, and each is a member of the American Board of Nursing Specialties. Our infusion suite is managed by an oncology certified nurse practitioner who meets with each patient regularly to address any concerns that arise during the course of treatment.
